every single post that says its ok to not wear makeup has like nine hundred replies saying “actually some girls LIKE the inescapable, crushing demand that they expend their money, time, and energy concealing and altering their natural features to better mimic an artificial and unattainable standard!!! leg contouring is girl power”
it’s okay you can just say you’re bad at putting on makeup
its ok babe you can say you never learned to identify misogyny and have zero empathy for gender nonconforming women
Everyone in the notes is losing their god damn mind so I felt like weighing in as someone that’s probably going to end up doing makeup professionally after high school. I’ve been into makeup (both everyday and theatrical) since middle school. It’s fun. it’s art. It helps me practice self expression. Love it with all my heart.
But if you do not recognize the deep-seated misogyny within both the industry and our society as a whole surrounding makeup, you are willingly blind.
People who say you don’t need to wear makeup aren’t shitting on your self expression, they’re attempting to relieve other women of this societal pressure that we have had ingrained within us since we were small children.
I decided to throw one of my deer skull bottles in the sandblaster and I’m loving how it came out!

“At the dances I was one of the most untiring and gayest. One evening a cousin of Sasha, a young boy, took me aside. With a grave face, as if he were about to announce the death of a dear comrade, he whispered to me that it did not behoove an agitator to dance. Certainly not with such reckless abandon, anyway. It was undignified for one who was on the way to become a force in the anarchist movement. My frivolity would only hurt the Cause.
I grew furious at the impudent interference of the boy. I told him to mind his own business. I was tired of having the Cause constantly thrown into my face. I did not believe that a Cause which stood for a beautiful ideal, for anarchism, for release and freedom from convention and prejudice, should demand the denial of life and joy. I insisted that our Cause could not expect me to become a nun and that the movement would not be turned into a cloister. If it meant that, I did not want it. “I want freedom, the right to self-expression, everybody’s right to beautiful, radiant things.” Anarchism meant that to me, and I would live it in spite of the whole world — prisons, persecution, everything. Yes, even in spite of the condemnation of my own closest comrades I would live my beautiful ideal.”

Yesterday at the foster clinic there was a woman with a litter of tiny, tiny kittens, one of whom was a beautiful orange and white creamsicle. I told her, “I love orange boy cats, they are all so stupid.” and the foster mom said to me, with tears of love in her eyes, face glowing with maternal pride, “He is only 6 days old and I can already tell that he’s going to be so stupid!”
i love my very stupid creamsicle boy, even though he pee’d in one of my houseplants today >:(
this ‘blonde’ gentoo penguin is part of a wild colony in antartica. the penguin is affected by a condition called leucism, a reduction in pigments in the bird’s feathers that leads to the overall paler look. while birds with leucism rarely survive for long, the last report about this penguin indicated it had survived for over three years.
